MAGIS - MORE THAN USUAL
ALL PRODUCTS FROM MAGIS
Out of the dilemma in the cycle
INTERVIEW
Stefan Diez is very serious about researching what the discipline of design can contribute to solving the major problems of our time. We spoke to him about how products, including the COSTUME sofa, can be designed with the circular economy in mind.
MAGIS - Anything but ordinary
MAGIS, the Latin word means "more than". Accordingly, the Italian manufacturer sees itself as a product publisher in which the differences between the languages and styles of international designers are consciously emphasized. This is achieved through constant experimentation with new design languages, new technologies and new materials. MAGIS was founded in 1976 in northern Italy, in Veneto. For centuries, this region has been known for its craftsmanship, creativity and flourishing trade. Since then, MAGIS has become a strong voice in the world of design. Some say MAGIS is eclectic. The family business answers this with yes. Because uncompromising design needs freedom, says Eugenio Perazza. Over the years, the continuous search for new ideas, new forms of design expression and innovative production processes has resulted in very purist products such as Konstantin Grcic's CONTAINER 360° or the AVIVA folding chair by Marc Berthier, as well as expressive designs such as the LITTLE BIG children's chairs from the company's own children's collection.
Furniture such as COSTUME, a modular sofa system created in collaboration with designer Stefan Diez, is the result of impressive perseverance and a constant desire to innovate. In its conceptual orientation, the idea of the pure separability of the components used in upholstered furniture is of great importance. The sofa with an inner construction made of recycled and recyclable polyethylene is a strong pioneer and shows what upholstered furniture will have to look like in the future. BELL CHAIR is another example of forward-looking design that MAGIS is driving forward. Made from recycled polypropylene obtained from waste from MAGIS' own production as well as waste from the regional automotive industry in Veneto, the plastic chair designed by Konstantin Grcic has become an important contribution to sustainable design. A MAGIS product must meet aesthetic and functional requirements. And it must embody a big idea. Otherwise it would be simple, banal, says MAGIS. We can wholeheartedly agree with this. We carry a selection of MAGIS products in our online store, and you can purchase the entire MAGIS range in our stores.
