QWSTION has taken a new approach and spent three years of intensive material research to develop Bananatex®: a 100% organic fabric made from pure Abacá banana fibers, which is not only used in its own bag collection.
This is how it's done
Bananatex is a 100% natural canvas fabric made from banana fibers. For its tenth anniversary, Swiss bag manufacturer QWSTION has developed a material that is obtained from the abacá plant, which is organically cultivated in the Philippine highlands and belongs to the banana family. As a natural alternative to synthetic, petroleum-based textiles, the in-house development is not only ecologically, economically and socially sustainable, but - processed for the first time in the latest bag collection - very robust and durable, light and flexible with a finely structured feel. A layer of beeswax makes the sustainable canvas fabric water-repellent, hard-wearing and develops a beautiful patina with use.
