Frankfurt kitchen chair - TIMELESS CHAIR HISTORY

There are chairs that have taken their place in our collective consciousness as a matter of course. "Of course I know that one." "Oh yes, that one." "Well, we have that one too." Immovable classics and timeless contemporaries that were designed back then and are just as relevant and popular today as they were back then. The FRANKFURTER KITCHEN CHAIR is part of this phenomenon. A clear chair, reduced to the essentials, as calmly coherent as if it had always been there. Here I am, take a seat and feel at home. Whether at a private dining table, in the theater or in a café.

Whether steadfast for changing light bulbs or inviting for contemplation. A welcome companion everywhere, a universal talent. People rarely ask it how old it actually is. This solid chair with its powerful front legs, curved back legs and simply curved backrest, which stands for outstanding seating comfort, looks contemporary in its own way. Not least because of its discreet seat recess. The success story of this minimalist archetype as a universally popular standard chair began back in the early 1930s. In its formal language and modesty, the chair can be imagined in the "Frankfurt kitchen", the first system kitchen that combined functionality with high design standards. A combination that has stood the test of time to this day. This background inspired MAGAZIN in the naming of the chair.

The secret of the FRANKFURTER KITCHEN CHAIR is not obvious, but a clever construction of six parts that interlock with a mortise-and-tenon joint to form a particularly stable unit. Perhaps it is precisely this knowledge of its inner strength that gives it its self-confident nonchalance and timeless authenticity. Whether in natural beech wood or contemporary green-yellow. This is a guy who can calmly withstand any change of chair, who seems to be in a state of flux and looks positively to the future. An attitude that is familiar to MAGAZIN. And why it made sense to revive its production in the 1980s. Made of beech and based exactly on the design of the 1930s. So that it can continue to tell kitchen stories and write history.
