How we work
With passion, wit and a sense of quality: MAGAZIN has been developing furniture under the name MAGAZIN-Produkt for around twenty years and has it manufactured in Germany and Europe. So why did MAGAZIN take the plunge around twenty years ago and add self-developed furniture to its range as a retailer? Because there were always gaps in the range that the product scouts at MAGAZIN were unable to close with what was available on the market.
Selection is a challenge - our important task is to choose from the sheer endless range of products that are conceived and produced. We take a close look, select, leave out and thus ensure a clear and reliable range. We fish with a fishing rod instead of a trawl.
Does a product deliver what it promises? The quality management team at MAGAZIN checks all items that we add to our range. Furniture, appliances and everyday objects are literally taken apart with legal expertise and craftsmanship. Is the drinking bottle also suitable for carbonated drinks? Are the assembly instructions for the shelf helpful? Can the packaging withstand the rough parcel service? Answering these and many other questions about products from the MAGAZIN range is the job of Tom Darenberg and his team.
We asked Philipp Witte from MAGAZIN how he integrates sustainability into his day-to-day work as a product developer and what clever solutions there are in terms of shipping and packaging. Material selection and origin, separability, packaging material, production location in dialog with utility value, durability and appropriate pricing are important to us. It is best when utility value and ecological qualities complement each other. This also requires customers to be open to rethinking some of their habits.
