Vase speech
- Inspired by fishing nets and Japanese porcelain
- For bouquets and individual flower stems
General Information
The vessels and tableware from the REDE series are inspired by fine porcelain from Japanese culture on the one hand and the structure of fishing nets on the other. The relief on the outside gives the impression of a net encircling the shapes. The shape of the spherical vase is reminiscent of Japanese lanterns and is suitable for voluminous bouquets as well as individual flower stems and branches. The filigree vessel is produced in Galicia and the fine relief is made by hand.
Sargadelos
Tradition and craftsmanship, a fine sense of form and coloration. Sargadelos is a ceramics company with a long history: for over 200 years, the now 200-strong company has been producing high-quality and exquisitely crafted products - including vases, bowls and tableware with finely worked graphic patterns and reliefs - in its two production facilities in Galicia, Spain. To this day, the decorations, which predominantly originate from Celtic and Galician culture, are made by hand, initially using handcrafted templates and then by hand to apply the fine details. And you can see it: the intense colors show fine gradients created by the brush application. The deep cobalt blue that characterizes many of his prints was an early trademark of the company and, in combination with the soft white tone of the ceramics, a true classic. Sargadelos became a valued reference in the world of ceramics in its early history and also attracted attention with collaborations such as the one with David Chipperfield for the REDE tableware series. Today, the Sargadelos Foundation manages the business and attaches great importance to preserving the company's cultural and artistic heritage.
David Chipperfield x Sargadelos
David Chipperfield is an English architect. He founded his architectural practice in London in 1985 under the name David Chipperfield Architects. Buildings such as the Museum of Modern Literature in Marbach, the Neues Museum in Berlin, the Saint Louis Art Museum and the Museo Jumex in Mexico City made the group famous worldwide. His designs are serious and solid, exude dignity and a certain gravitas and integrate the history and memories that belong to the buildings and their surroundings. It is no coincidence that David Chipperfield designed a product series for Sargadelos: the Briton first came to Galicia, the region and headquarters of the Spanish ceramics manufacturer, for a vacation in the 1990s. He loved it, and many more visits followed. Chipperfield appreciates the direct and unadorned nature of the region and its inhabitants, shaped by the rugged nature and the sea. An antithesis to his life in London.
