Stool Costume

The stool from the upholstered furniture series COSTUME. It can be used both as a free-standing seating element and as an extension or widening of the seating surface. If necessary, the stool can also be firmly connected to other seating elements with the connecting elements (set 2), which can be ordered separately.

COSTUME is a modular sofa system with an internal construction made of recycled and recyclable polyethylene. In its conceptual orientation, the idea of separability of components used in upholstered furniture by type is of great importance. With this upholstered furniture, Stefan Diez's design team delivers a strong pioneer and shows how upholstered furniture must look in the future. This upholstered furniture can be completely disassembled into its individual components. The modular system consists of a single element that can be connected to each other in various configurations or extended with armrests. This base supports the upholstery and the visible fabric. The cover can be removed, which facilitates the cleaning and reupholstering of the elements. The armrests, mountable on the left or right side, can be covered individually, just like the corresponding connectors of the sofa elements. A stool, which can also be used as a separate seat, completes the series.

Stefan Diez comments on the COSTUME concept as follows: "How one positions oneself on the circular economy is a fundamental decision. When we were working on the COSTUME sofa for Magis, I realized that. The very fact that a sofa can be completely disassembled by the customer for the first time, that each part can be replaced individually, set a new standard for us in the studio. An upholstered piece of furniture that would be made using the traditional process would no longer be feasible with us. We will apply our self-imposed rules more and more consistently with each subsequent project."
