This pendant light, designed and manufactured in Sweden, is a real material beauty: the glazed porcelain shell is designed for two light sources and is covered by a beautifully proportioned shade made of opal glass. The result is a pleasantly diffuse light. Three fine wire cables and the canopy , also made of porcelain, support the luminaire. Like the wire ropes, the textile cable can be adjusted to any length between 40 cm and 2 m. SOLENNE is equipped with two E27 lampholders - allowing freedom in the choice of light source. Ifö Electric, based in Bromölla in southern Sweden, has been known for its porcelain products since the early 20th century. This is no coincidence, as Bromölla is situated on Lake Ivösjön, a large inland lake, on whose main island, Ivö, high-quality kaolin has been mined since the late 19th century—a key material for porcelain production that withstands high temperatures and produces a smooth, white surface. What began in 1919 with the production of electrical porcelain continued from 1934 onward as Ifö Electric—at least, that year is considered the official start of the company’s history. What is certain, in any case, is that the company, with its porcelain fuses and lamps, became a significant part of Swedish industrial history. But it is not only the material; the timeless designs by renowned designers have also ensured that Ifö Electric’s lights have become Scandinavian classics, some of which have been in continuous production for many decades and can still be found today in numerous private homes as well as in public spaces—both indoors and outdoors. All production continues to take place at the company’s own facility in Bromölla.
