Standing there, the KG01 salt and pepper mill resembles a king on a chessboard. It is named after its designer, Konstantin Grcic, who realized that it would be too simplistic to reduce this frequently used spice mill solely to its function. Even though the latter is exceptionally well executed in the KG01 thanks to its ceramic grinding mechanism. Moreover, mills make a statement on the table and countertop, and they visibly convey the importance of their contents—the spices—to the outside world. Even when they’re not in use.

The cylindrical body of the KG01 is milled from a single block of aluminum and precisely dimensioned for a secure two-handed grip. The round cross-section of the lower part transitions into an octagonal profile—a subtle hint that makes the torque visible and intuitive.
