A reversible kilim made of 100% wool. On handlooms, the carefully color-coordinated wool threads are woven into a graphic pattern that—inspired by the culture of the Sioux, one of the indigenous peoples of North America—arranges acute-angled crosses into a series of diamonds.

The historical diamond patterns of the Sioux are a central component of their traditional art and were particularly common in beadwork and quillwork. The rhombus—often referred to as a diamond shape—is a dominant motif in this tradition. It represents the four cardinal directions or symbolizes the bison, which held spiritual and vital significance for the Sioux. Historically, such patterns were embroidered on moccasins, cradles, clothing, bags, and teepee decorations. Traditionally, colors derived from nature were used; later, through trade with Europeans, glass beads in various colors were added.

Odosdesign brings this traditional, graphic element into the modern era and translates it into a textile form with the ROMBO rug. The coral-colored pattern is flanked by smaller crosses in a warm brown tone, and two solid-color stripes frame the motif on the short sides.

The hand-weaving technique allows each rug to be crafted in detail, thread by thread, creating a dense yet lightweight textile with a surface that feels exceptionally high-quality. Highly recommended for those who walk barefoot!
