Here in the version with armrests - an unusual piece of furniture! Clearly defined components, base and back section strikingly set off from each other, high seating comfort, stackable. This is the REX armchair by Dutch designer Ineke Hans. She developed REX more than ten years ago as a plastic chair made of easily separable parts. Now the Circuform brand is bringing it back onto the market, made from recycled polycaprolactam (PA6) and - recyclable!

The Dutch manufacturer's aim is to achieve a closed cycle. Plastic can only be recycled efficiently if the exact composition of the material is known. Ideally, a plastic product should be returned to the manufacturer at the end of its life cycle. Experts have been calling for corresponding take-back systems for the furniture industry for some time - with REX, Ineke Hans and Circuform are now squaring the circle for the first time. The company has set up a number of take-back stations in the Netherlands to offer customers an easy way to return old chairs. In order to achieve maximum recyclability, extensive research into procurement sources and material suppliers was necessary. In the end, the decision was made to use a special type of recycled plastic, PA6, and to manufacture it using injection molding. This thermoplastic material, known by its trade name nylon, offers a good service life and can be procured easily and reliably thanks to its multiple uses.
