The REVOLT CHAIR was originally designed by Friso Kramer during his time at the Dutch furniture manufacturer Ahrend in the 1950s. In a collaboration between Ahrend and HAY, this piece of furniture, which is considered one of the icons of Dutch design, is being reissued. REVOLT CHAIR embodies Friso Kramer's unmistakable minimalist style, which was shaped by the era. A revolutionary design at the time, the construction of the steel base is particularly noteworthy. It was customary for chairs of this type to have a round tube, but here this has to make way for a U-shaped steel frame construction. The chair, which is now produced using the original method, retains the functionality and robust construction of the original model from the middle of the last century. The colors and the choice of materials for the seat and backrest are contemporary. This consists of a mixture of recycled and new ABS material in various color options. The black ABS material is made from 100% recycled ABS, while the colored versions are made from 30% recycled ABS and 70% so-called "virgin" ABS.
