Print Rop van Mierlo

Amsterdam-based designer and illustrator Rop van Mierlo creates seemingly untameable creatures in his independent works from the Wild Animals series. It is less about the animals depicted than about a free-spirited process: the lack of control plays a central role. Rop's characteristic technique is wet-on-wet painting, in which liquid watercolor is applied to wet paper so that the paint runs uncontrollably. The artwork itself thus creates the fascinating shapes and random color gradients.

Van Mierlo graduated from the renowned Design Academy Eindhoven in 2008. His distinctive, dreamlike style has brought him together with well-known brands and big names in design, fashion, culture and music. From paintings to mohair wall hangings and hand-tufted wool rugs to eclectic animations, his work takes many forms.

The motifs in this series are printed using lithographic offset printing on uncoated 170-gram MultiDesign Naturel paper and embossed with the logo, title and artist's name.

Sebastian Wrong has a penchant for bringing two worlds together.
