Eating without the rim of a plate feels more liberating—and it’s easier to see beyond it, too. That’s exactly what the Munich-based design duo Studio Sonntag has done with its PLAYTS tableware series. PLAYTS captures the charm of a stylishly set table while simultaneously breaking with its conventions.

This playful set consists of three geometric shapes made of fine, color-glazed stoneware—without rims, but with plenty of creative freedom. Stacked on top of each other, placed side by side, or used solo: from a small amuse-bouche to a praline or tartlet, all the way to a sumptuous dish, PLAYTS helps every bite make a picture-perfect appearance. Because each PLAYT acts like a small pedestal, providing its own little stage for whatever is placed on it.

Combining multiple sets creates graphic table arrangements that can be reimagined and rearranged time and again—even when paired with existing tableware.
