Famous, good and inexpensive are the French Opinel knives. Their trademark: As pocket knives, they usually feature a simple but reliable locking system for the blade when folded in and out. A locking ring on the handle is turned to the stop and locks the blade stably. Joseph Opinel invented this now very famous principle over 130 years ago. With the growing success of his first pocket knives, the product range of knife and cutlery making in the Savoy also flourished. Today, they produce as well as cooking and kitchen knives, picnic knives, harvest knives for the garden, folding saws according to the aforementioned pocket knife principle and other blade-reinforced utensils - such as corkscrews.
