This delicious aperitif is the brainchild of Berliners Stefan Becker and Thorsten Konrad. The two wanted to create something new, fresh, Mediterranean and far removed from the romance of Italian country inns. They wanted their drink to taste natural and authentic. To achieve this, they macerated bitter oranges and sweet oranges as well as red sandalwood, gentian, cinchona bark, hibiscus, vanilla and other botanicals. They found the perfect partner in winemaker Nico Espenschied in Rheinhessen, who stands for contemporary wines with hand, heart, character and individuality. Espenschied supplies the Riesling, which harmonizes perfectly with the essences of fruit, herbs and bark. All that's missing is a little beet sugar and the Ode Aperitif Ruby is ready - a fruity, tart-sweet delight with sunny (bitter) orange notes that lights up a spark of summer even on long winter evenings. It tastes great neat on ice, as a Ruby Tonic, as a Ruby Sour and in all kinds of cocktail combinations. The bottle is designed to match this urban pleasure: straightforward, with straightforward lettering and a bright red wooden ball as a cap.
