General Information

Blanket with many faces. Checkerboard pattern with color gradient

This jacquard-woven wool blanket has two special features. Firstly, the material, because the warming, soft and supple merino wool (68%) is mixed with cotton (32%). This ensures that the surface is even more skin-friendly, does not scratch and the blanket has a lovely heavy drape. As a result, it lies comfortably against the body. It also impresses with its elaborate design. At first glance, it looks like a simple checkerboard pattern, but the beautiful color gradient from the two darker shades to the lighter ones only becomes apparent when the blanket is fully spread out. In use, the folds create a lively pattern that nevertheless appears calm and unagitated thanks to the muted colors. The merino wool is spun in Finland and fully processed in the weaving mill in Kankurit. The blanket is woven on jacquard looms, which not only makes the unusual pattern possible, but also means that the two sides are woven in different colors (like a double face). The long edges of the blanket are finished with so-called eyelash fringes, i.e. very short fringes.

Experience values. Lapuan Kankurit

In Lapua in western Finland, the jacquard weaving mill Lapuan Kankurit, a fourth-generation family business, translates its experience into woven goods that meet the highest standards of functionality, durability and feel. Lapuan Kankurit achieves this by using only natural raw materials and materials for its textiles. Traditional and newly developed processes are combined in the production process, which is always based on knowledge and careful execution of all work steps, from spinning to weaving and finishing. Lapuan Kankurit produces mainly in its own weaving mill in Lapua. A small part is produced in Lithuania and Finland. The merino wool for this blanket comes from Argentina and was obtained in an animal-friendly way, as mulesing is not used there. The crimped fibers can store a lot of warming air and at the same time feel pleasantly soft even on sensitive skin.
