This mechanical pencil made in Japan seems at first a little anachronistic, like the belated implementation of a not completed, although obvious development step in the evolution of the pencil to the mechanical writing instrument. On closer inspection, but even more so in use, it quickly emerges that the synthesis manifested in the "Ohto Sharp Pencil" is quite appropriate (and by no means untimely): He combines the advantages of the mechanical pencil (namely: a constant, fine line thanks to 0.5 mm lead) with those of the wood-cased pencil (namely: manageability and light weight), which should welcome not only all those whose fingers have grown around the classic hexagonal pencil.

1.) They are available in a variety of mine formats, which in turn are catering to a variety of purposes - from technical drawing to large-format sketching and signing, and 2.) they are sustainable because they are refillable.

This retractable pencil made in Japan may have a kind of anachronistic look, like the late realization of a missing, but obvious, step forward in the evaluation of the pencil on the way to becoming a mechanical writing instrument. Especially when in use, closer inspection quickly shows that the manifesting synthesis of the "Ohto Sharp Pencil" appears entirely appropriate (and not at all old-fashioned). The pencil combines the advantages of a retractable pencil (i.e. a constant fine line thanks to the 0.5 mm lead) with the advantages of a wood-cased pencil (manageability and low weight). These features will not only be appreciated by those persons whose fingers have grown around the classical hexagonal pencil, but by many more besides.
