Thanks to precise fittings, assembly is guaranteed to succeed, resulting in a piece of furniture with a level of stability that’s almost unheard of today: The height adjustment is achieved using a patented connecting fitting that’s easy to handle with the included tool. During assembly, the shelves and side panels automatically align; the separate bracing of each individual element creates a well-engineered structural integrity—almost as stable as a glued-together cabinet.

The compartments of the four-door sideboard vary in height: the two lower compartments are taller than those above them. Adjustable feet allow for precise leveling at the installation site.

The young company from Winterthur in Switzerland has been manufacturing customizable and individual cabinet furniture for offices and private households since 1999. The company founder is Stefan Irion, a trained model maker. A shelf in the kitchen of an old apartment gave him the decisive idea. He built his own construction from birch plywood and acrylic glass to fill a niche in this room. His friends liked this first IRION shelf so much that they also wanted one. And so, step by step, the series production of IRION furniture systems began. Today, the company is a successful three-person operation in which the IRION shelving unit from the early days is still produced unchanged.

Versatility, expandability and adaptability are the main characteristics of IRION. The high quality of workmanship is the result of specially designed and optimally coordinated components. The appearance and size of the shelving and cupboard units can be adapted to individual requirements and can be changed and extended at any time.

If required, a shelving system can fill entire walls or enhance a single corner. The individual elements consist of side panels with holes drilled through them lengthways, which are mounted on the top and bottom parts using threaded rods and special screws. In addition, there are identical front and back parts that allow the IRION furniture systems to be positioned freely in the room as room dividers. Stefan Irion wants to create long-lasting companions for people with a sense of individuality and aesthetics. For example, sliders made of colored acrylic glass can be used to cover the individual shelves for colorful accents. When dismantled into its individual parts, a shelf fits into a single cardboard box and can therefore be assembled, dismantled and extended as often as required.
