We like these felt ball rugs so much that we don't even know where to start with our praise. As material enthusiasts, we naturally love the fact that they are made from pure New Zealand wool. Ball after ball is felted by hand and one is sewn to the next to create a round rug. Virgin wool can also make perfect use of its natural properties here: It is very hard-wearing, so the carpets are robust, abrasion-resistant, lint-free and dirt-repellent - in other words, very easy to care for. Pure new wool is heat-insulating (good against cold floors) and temperature-regulating. Thanks to the smooth scaly structure of the individual fibers, wool is self-cleaning and the natural wool grease (lanolin) acts as a water-repellent, protective barrier, meaning that the felt carpet can also be used in bathrooms, hallways and entrance areas. New wool can also absorb moisture and slowly release it again, which has a positive effect on the moisture balance in the room and therefore the indoor climate, as it can compensate for fluctuations in humidity. And not to forget: Felt carpets can also be used to optimize room acoustics. Finally - perhaps not of interest to everyone, but good to know: Wool felt is flame-retardant and the felt ball carpets are certified to B1 fire protection.

So far, so good, so practical. But now imagine how this soft spherical mat feels under your feet: warm and slightly springy, almost massaging thanks to the textured surface, and yet the coffee table, chair and armchair stand securely on it without tipping over. We were torn between the colors available for the ball rugs. We opted for loud (colorful), quiet (shades of grey) and bold (orange). So you can choose to match your interior and, depending on the size, create a color accent or a statement - even over a long period of time thanks to the high color fastness.

Only New Zealand virgin wool is used for the felt ball rugs. The Berlin-based manufacturer Myfelt sources the raw material from the New Zealand farmers' association "New Zealand Wool Services International Ltd (WSI)", which guarantees high quality, animal welfare-friendly husbandry (mulesing-free) and gentle shearing of the sheep. Less is also more when it comes to processing the raw wool: Myfelt does not use any chemical additives at all.

The wool is processed in Nepal and is first carded and washed several times in selected partner factories. This aligns the fibers and creates a beautiful, even pile. In several steps, the felt balls are given their final shape by hand and joined together using a specially developed knotting process - in some cases up to 50,000 pieces. This technique also allows the rug to be used on both sides. Myfelt is (as of 2025) the only manufacturer of felt products in the world that is a member of GoodWeave® International. The non-profit organization campaigns against child and forced labour in the carpet industry, offers training opportunities and rehabilitation measures to children who have worked in carpet weaving mills and supports compliance with good working conditions.

This product is an example of genuine handicraft; therefore, minor deviations in size and colour may occur.
