An icon among espresso machines: the 9090 by Richard Sapper for Alessi from 1979. Already functionally revolutionary at the time and equipped with no less than 5 patents of its own, it has lost none of its persuasive power to this day. For us, it is a masterpiece when it comes to combining innovative function and fine design. Like other classic espresso makers, the compact machine consists of two parts that are joined together for the brewing process and set in motion on the stove. The highlight is their connection: instead of being laboriously screwed together, the pot clicks into the lower brewing unit with the help of its movable handle made of burnished steel. When the espresso is ready, it is released again in the same way and returned to the table. The stainless steel edge of the spout ensures drip-free pouring, while the lever closure provides a view of the inside and is easy to clean. The large contact surface to the heat source is also practical. It allows a large area of heat absorption, fast brewing and a secure stand. 9090 is made entirely of steel - durable and resistant. In the spirit of Sapper, for whom "an object should last as long as possible".
