Material and high-quality workmanship speak for cuddly and soft wearing comfort without scratching - even directly on the skin on the neck or head.
Cloth muslin
The cloth MUSSELIN is made of 100% certified organic cotton and is handmade in Poland. Compared to conventional wool blankets, muslin is more versatile: warm and cozy in winter, light and airy in summer and refreshingly cool. The three-layer material is durable, breathable, hard-wearing and absorbent. The cloths become more cuddly and softer with each wash. Muslin is a cotton fabric that can be washed at 30 to 40 °C and spun. This creates the typical crinkle structure. It should be noted that the fabric can lose up to 10% of its width in the dryer, and strong crinkling also affects the size of the cloth. The fabric can be smoothed out again at any time by gentle ironing.
Furoshiki
A furoshiki is a square cloth traditionally used in Japan as packaging and as a carrying bag. They were originally used in bathhouses (onsen) in Japan to wrap clothes and avoid confusion more than 1,000 years ago. The traditional furoshiki fell into the background for a long time due to the mass production of plastic and paper bags, they were then considered old-fashioned and cumbersome.
In the spirit of sustainable resource use and environmental protection, this Japanese tradition is experiencing a revival and is becoming increasingly popular. Whether as a bag for different items or as a waste-avoiding gift wrap - the versatile cloth can even be used to transport bottles or melons. It always depends on the right technique or the right knot, so that the wrapped object can be transported easily and comfortably.
The art of gift giving in Japan
In Japan, anyone who wants to present a gift traditionally wraps it in a furoshiki. Gift-giving, however, is not simply handing a gift to a person, but rather taking into account how the other person feels at that moment, how they will transport their gift home, and how they will use it in the future. The importance lies all the more in the act of giving and considering the person receiving the gift. It is about the gesture, less about the value of the gift. The Japanese believe that good friendships with others are maintained and deepened by placing special emphasis on tradition as well as the manner of gift giving. Appreciation for others and mutual respect are at the heart of this.
More than a piece of cloth
Furoshiki is not only a particularly stylish and mindful way of giving, but also a sustainable method - and therefore more relevant than ever in these times of a modern throwaway society. The idea of wrapping a gift in something that is durable, that is not thrown away, but appreciated and reused, is more than inspiring. The applications for the square wipes are almost limitless. Whether it's a simple grocery bag on the way to the grocery store or an aesthetically knotted gift, MUSSELIN cloths are practical, versatile and, above all, durable. More and more people are trying to live consciously and reduce waste. Why not rethink at least when giving as a gift?
