Hand-woven kilim made from 100% wool. The carefully coordinated wool threads are woven on hand looms to create colorful patterns that tell the story of the Ndebele culture of South Africa. The Ndebele decorate the facades of their houses with exciting, geometric and colorful motifs. These murals are traditionally made by women and are a form of communication, resistance, identity and artistic expression deeply rooted in South African culture. With the HOWZIT carpet, designer Sandra Figuera gives these paintings a textile form and translates them into color worlds that are tailored to the home and the interior.

The hand-weaving technique, in turn, enables an impressive depth of detail, with each carpet being designed thread by thread. The result is a dense yet lightweight textile with a surface that is particularly pleasant and robust thanks to the careful hand-weaving technique and fine workmanship.
