General Information
Achille Castiglioni's kettle is a curling stone-inspired project from 1995 that was rediscovered among the prototypes in the Alessi Museum. Alberto Alessi: "Achille often reminded me that I asked him to design cooking utensils that he didn't normally use. In short, he was not an expert in this field. As proof of this, his kettle has a very idiosyncratic handling: as if inviting you to play by sliding it on the kitchen worktop, like curling."
This unprecedented kettle is one of Achille Castiglioni's many unrealized projects, the result of his tireless curiosity and love of experimentation. In BULBUL, we see Castiglioni's extraordinary ability to translate the characteristics and functions of Objekten from completely different fields into a new project. A game of transfers that has often created the famous ironic dimension of many of his works. BULBUL is a perfect kettle whose origins lie in the round shape of a curling stone: from frozen water to vaporized water, an amusement that is further enhanced by the name "bul, bul" chosen by Castiglioni. Because in the old Milanese dialect, the birthplace of this unforgettable designer, it means: "It's boiling, it's boiling"!
BULBUL is suitable for all hobs, we recommend medium or low flame on a gas hob and medium heat on an induction hob. How does it work? Remove the lid and fill with water only up to the bottom of the spout so that the whistle is not damaged and can emit its sound. Close the lid, insert the whistle and place the stove on the heat source. When the whistle starts to sound, remove the kettle from the heat, allow the last water bubbles to subside, remove the whistle and pour out the water.
