Armchair Rex

Here in the version with armrests - an unusual piece of furniture! Clearly defined components, base and back section distinctively set off from each other, high seating comfort, stackable. This is the armchair REX by Dutch designer Ineke Hans. She developed REX more than ten years ago as a plastic chair made of easily separable parts. Now the Circuform brand is launching it once again, made of recycled polycaprolactam (PA6) and - recyclable!

The concern of the Dutch manufacturer is the closed loop. Plastic can only be recycled efficiently if the exact composition of the material is known. Ideally, a plastic product should be returned to the manufacturer at the end of its life cycle. Experts have been calling for appropriate take-back systems for the furniture industry for some time - with REX, Ineke Hans and Circuform are now subjecting the squaring of the circle to a reality check for the first time. In the Netherlands, the company has set up a number of take-back stations to offer customers an easy way to return old chairs. In order to be able to realize maximum recyclability, extensive research into procurement sources and suppliers of materials was necessary. Ultimately, the decision was made for the material to be a special type of plastic recyclate, PA6, and manufactured by injection molding. Known by its trade name nylon, this thermoplastic material offers good durability and can be easily and reliably sourced thanks to its multiple uses.

Please note that the manufacturer uses used shipping cartons for these chairs for sustainability reasons. The recycled, unbranded boxes do not contain any returned merchandise. You will, of course, receive the new merchandise you ordered.
