Kolter Comfort Eco lounger

The KOLTER lounger has been part of our range for a long time. The ECO version is part of our project to improve the ecological footprint of upholstered furniture, as all structural components can be completely dismantled. The upholstery fabric is made of Bananatex®, a natural alternative to synthetic, petroleum-based textiles. Elegant and minimalist, with no pretentious airs and graces, it can be used as a guest lounger or as a simple backless sofa or daybed. Two pocket spring mattresses ensure lying comfort and good ventilation of the lying surface. If the mattress is separated from the lower base and placed next to the existing lying surface, the width is doubled. A flat cushion (80 × 13 centimetres) is included in the scope of delivery. The black lacquered steel runner is easy to assemble. max. Max. load weight: 270 kg.

Even the most durable upholstered furniture is subject to wear and tear, which - depending on the degree of wear - exhausts upholstery materials and cover fabrics. Thus, even the life cycle of high-quality upholstered furniture eventually comes to an end. We are concerned about the lifetime of a product, recycling and the purity of materials. This was the starting point for a cooperation with the Danish upholstered furniture manufacturer SOFTLINE. The concrete goal was to use good basic materials, process them in such a way that they are easily separable and can thus be recycled without any problems. In addition, compliance with European social and environmental standards was important to us and, last but not least, the aim was to generate the shortest possible distances from processing location to processing location.

We now offer part of our range of upholstered furniture in a balance that has been significantly improved in several respects. The structural components of this upholstered furniture with the ECO suffix can be completely disassembled. None of the individual parts are permanently glued or nailed. The cover is removable with a sewn-on Velcro/fluff tape and zippers, making it easy to clean or replace. Let's make it completely transparent: the furniture itself is produced in Denmark. The wood of the frame is made of Scandinavian ash, the foams are certified according to OEKO-TEX Standard 100 and come from a factory in the immediate vicinity. The processed pocket spring core also comes from Denmark. The steel frames and steel components are produced in Poland, where the upholstery covers are also sewn.

The upholstery fabric of the sofa is very special: the Swiss bag manufacturer QWSTION has developed Bananatex® after several years of material research. It is the world's first technical fabric made of fibers from the fast-growing Abacá banana plant, which is cultivated organically in the Philippine highlands. As a natural alternative to synthetic, petroleum-based textiles, the in-house development is not only ecological and economical, but also very robust and durable. In addition, the material is lightweight, flexible and has a high-quality, finely textured feel.
