General Information
The developers led by Italian architect Michele de Lucchi wanted to find out how the shape of the espresso pot could be optimized to improve the so-called organoleptic properties of espresso. Thanks to the special design of the inside of the pot, PULCINA interrupts the flow of coffee at exactly the right moment. This avoids the volcanic phase - the final moment of extraction that leaves a burnt, bitter aftertaste. Only the best of the coffee reaches the cup and the good espresso aroma is fully expressed. The spout is relatively prominent. Its typical V-shape is reminiscent of a chick's beak - or pulcino in Italian. It is so precisely designed that it enables drip-free pouring.
